GMR School of Aviation, a strategic business unit of GMR Aero Technic and a Center of Excellence for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering education, has partnered with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, India's first central university focused on the transportation and logistics sector, to bridge the skill gap in India's aviation sector by integrating academic learning with industry-oriented technical training.
Through this partnership, the students can gain access to the specialized curriculum for the B.Sc. (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) Program duly recognized by the regulatory and Academic Frameworks and aligned with real-world MRO requirements. The partnership combines GSV's academic and research capabilities with the GMR School of Aviation's Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licensing Programme approved by DGCA & EASA and operational MRO exposure.
During the inaugural session of MRO South Asia Summit 2026 in Delhi, on 11th March 2026, while announcing the partnership, Prof. Manoj Choudhary (Vice-Chancellor, GSV) said, "Working in true spirit of Industry-Academia collaboration, GSV and GMR School of Aviation collaboration shall create industry-ready human capital for India's growing Aviation MRO Sector and therefore contribute directly to national priorities."
On this partnership, Mr. Ashok Gopinath, President and Accountable Manager GMR Aero Technic said, "This collaboration between GMR School of Aviation and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya marks a significant step toward shaping the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. This initiative aims to develop DGCA/EASA licensed aircraft maintenance engineers equipped with a B.Sc. (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) degree program. This partnership will not only strengthen India's self-reliance in the MRO sector but also build a sustainable pipeline of skilled engineers who can support the industry's rapid growth."
